Q: Do your helicopters come in kit form for me to build?
A:
Our “kits” are not presently offered as a kit for the consumer to
purchase. We currently build all of the machines that are purchased
at our facility in California to ensure that every machine meets our
strict quality control standards.
Q: What are the building fees that are associated with getting a
kit?
A:
The labor fees are based on each individual request and which model
is being built. The fees range anywhere from $350 for a basic build
and $450 for a full build that is test flown with all components
installed and tested.
Q: Are the AirStar replacement parts compatible with Vario’s
helicopters?
A:
Our AirStar replacement parts are 100% guaranteed to provide a more
affordable and higher quality upgrade to the Vario parts for the
Vario Benzin Trainer and Vario Acrobatic.
Q: Do you have any mechanics that will for into a scale
helicopter?
A:
Yes, our AirStar Evolution mechanics are a perfect fit into any
Vario helicopter fuselage that calls for the Vario Benzin mechanics.
Our mechanics will also fit some other kits with minor wood work.
Q: Are your scale mechanics only belt-driven?
A:
No, we offer both a belt driven and torque tube driven mechanics
set-up for scale applications. There is also no additional charge
for you to choose which one you would like. We also allow the
customer to choose what gear ratio they would like, also at no
additional charge.
Q: How much weight can the AirStar gas helicopters lift?
A: Our gas
helicopters can safely lift 15 lbs.
Q: How long can the AirStar Camera Helicopters stay in the air?
A:
Our helicopters can remain in the air for around 25-30 minutes on
one standard tank of fuel, but we can extend that flight time for up
to 2 hours.
Q: Is your AirStar Mongoose camera mount able to be easily removed
from the helicopter is I want to fly the Mongoose as a trainer or
for 3-D?
A:
The AirStar Mongoose custom camera mount system is fully self
contained and can be removed and replaced with the standard landing
gear (that does come included with each Mongoose camera helicopter
at no additional charge) with only 4 screws in a matter of minutes.
Q: Why should I go with AirStar International's Evolution or
Mongoose over the Vario Benzin Trainer, Vario Acrobatic or Bergen
Intrepid Gasser?
A:
The AirStar International Evolution and Mongoose provide you with
features and a design that is far superior to our competitors. We
provide our customers with their choice of color for their custom
helicopter and the other companies provide you with what they want
you to have. We also provide you a helicopter with the lowest parts
count on the market, eliminating many parts that the competitors
cannot eliminate, such as: servo bell cranks, extra servo linkages
and a wood servo tray (Vario). We also provide the customer with a
standard all metal rotor head on 12mm main rotor shaft set-up, which
is an expensive upgrade from some competition.
Q: Why are there no upgrades for the AirStar helicopters? I find
upgrades for Vario and Bergen, but not AirStar.
A:
AirStar does not really have any upgrades, other than colors,
because we decided to provide the customer with the best parts from
the very beginning and not make the customer spend extra money for
“upgrades.”
Q: Why should I choose the Airstar camera helicopter over others?
Are there any significant differences between your design and those
of Bergen or Vario?
A:
Our camera mount system is unlike any other system on the market and
is completely revolutionary. We have been using this design in the
motion picture industry since the 1990’s and this is the first time
we are releasing this to the public. It is completely self-leveling
through gentle turns, providing the end user with a constantly level
picture, which is ideal for still shot photography and full motion
videography and it is offered in a 2- or 3-axis camera mount system.
The design integrates it’s own dampening system that is only found
with our camera mount.
Airstar International
designs and produces radio-controlled helicopters for a
variety of purposes. Our products are flown by hobbyists
all over the world, but also within the movie industry,
both providing camera platforms for those impossible
shots, and as special effects and movie props. Several
other industries and military applications have used
AirStar products, and we are always in the forefront of
new product
development.
The chief
executive operating officer of the company is Josef
Joebstl. He is a pioneer in the remotely controlled
helicopter industry. One of his accomplishments is to
create a new market in turbine driven helicopters. Mr.
Joebstl has over 20 years of experience in this field
and is internationally known. Mr. Joebstl is the
inventor of 5 other helicopters, as well as vehicles for
the United States government and the movie industry. Mr.
Joebstl came to this country from Austria with 1
helicopter, experience and his drive, and has built this
company to become very successful.

Here at
Airstar International we are currently undergoing
changes to better serve our customers. Due to the high
demand for our products, we have not always been able to

we have added new members to our staff and our goal is

We are
also working with our
manufacturers to increase the supply we receive of every
part, in every color, we have ever made*. Our goal is to
have every part fully stocked by mid-November, so that
our customers will not have to wait more than 1 business
day for individual parts to be shipped.
Every helicopter
we build and all of our custom Airstar International
parts are made in the USA.
*Custom colors
that have been requested by individual customers may not
be stocked due to the specialty of that one particular
build.

made a lot of efforts to
provide you the best parts that you can get for your helicopter system. Our
parts are made to improve your helicopters for better flying, stronger
resistance and longer lifetime (we exclude crashes for sure ;-))) with
easier maintenance. We strongly care about customer’s satisfaction and we
always care about new ideas for our system. We also want to stay close to
you our customers and we would be pleased if you got some ideas which could

Helicopter repair and service
Should
you need any repairs or help with
your helicopter, Airstar is the
place to bring your machine. We have
over 25 years of experience in
helicopter repair and custom design.
Although we specialize in Vario
designs, we can service any
manufacturer. Airstar has spent the
last decade re-designing the
outdated and over priced Vario
mechanics. Should you own a Vario
helicopter, Airstar has a full
inventory of Vario replacement
parts to upgrade your existing
machine. If you own an Airstar
Mongoose or Jet SX we also can
repair or service your machines. At
Airstar we always have a full supply
of replacement parts in stock and
can usually repair your machine and
have it back to you in 48 hours. If
you need it sooner you may set up an
appointment and bring your machine
in for a “on the spot” repair.
Fuselage Repair
If
you own a scale ship and need a
repair on mechanics or fiberglass,
Airstar can help you. We have a full
service fiberglass shop which custom
builds bodies, canopies, plastics,
etc. No job is too small!!!
Paint Service
Airstar also has a full paint and
powder coat shop, which uses all the
latest PPG paints and powder
coating. Custom paint jobs are our
specialty and we only use the
finest paints and accessories. We
pride ourselves in show quality
paint jobs. If you have a project
which needs paint, including powder
coating, please call for a price.
Again, no job is too small.
Aluminum Anodizing
Should
you need any custom color anodizing
we can supply this to you as well.
We utilize the latest high gloss
anodizing finish in any color. All
parts are polished before the
anodizing process to ensure the
finest finish.
Custom Machine Service
At Airstar we own several HASS
multi axis machines, which we
use for building our custom parts.
If you have a project which needs
custom machine service we can assist
you in your design and machine your
parts to exact tolerances.
